Track descriptions:

Technosonics is my final project for a music technology class I took in the autumn of 2021, also called Technosonics. Here's an excerpt from my project write-up for this composition: "Overall, I think this song is some of my best work in this class and in general. I’m proud of what I made and the new things that I tried throughout this class. This one is going on my next album!" Seems like I was right about that last part.

Daedal is another composition I made for a music technology class I took in the autumn of 2021. The guidelines for this assignment were to take an audio sample of less than 10 seconds and make a song from it. I chose to sample one of my professor's lectures, a section containing his speech and a triangle wave. The drums are made with consonants and plosives from the sample, which were filtered and transposed to serve as hi-hats, snares, and other high-end sounds. A pitch-shifted vowel sound serves as a repetitive bass. Finally, an innocuous melody comes in, made from the original sample’s triangle wave. "Daedal" is a word that comes from the Greek legend Daedalus, an inventor and architect, and the father of Icarus. Daedal means artistic or complex, which I would argue describes this song well.

Salt Rock is the song I made for my friend Salt as part of the December 2021 Gending Machine Secret Santa. The name Salt Rock is a pun on their username and the name of a music genre. They told me that Spotify classified their music tastes as "weirdcore", so this is my attempt at making a song in that genre. I aimed for something between the chord choices of Oliver Buckland and the grittiness of the Portal 2 OST. How did I do?

Artymous is pronounced like "Artemis", but spelled in a way that references my friend Artym. This song uses samples from his Jaded sample pack, which he graciously provided to me for free. This was my first time using a sample pack, and I enjoyed the way it streamlined and inspired my music composition process. Hi, I'm Gizmote (he/they)! I like music so much that I started making some myself. I started making music in 2017 under the name GizmoDude8128 and have been releasing songs frequently ever since! My music tends to fit in genres such as electronic, EDM, ambient, and chiptune, but I've also done a bit of orchestral, techno, and synthwave. My two biggest releases are Songs To Spacewalk To and Bright, both released in 2020, the revenue from which is donated to the Arbor Day Foundation! My biggest inspirations include C418 and Waterflame, as well as dozens of other artists. As of 2022, I have released over 70 songs, and I plan on making more creative works as long as I can!
